In this era, every person is reliable to different form of social media platforms like Instagram, snapchat, tik tok, face book and other different applications. As every thing has it’s advantages and disadvantages using SNS also have a very significant numbers of pros and cons, the pros of using SNS are; we know the things going around the world, stay connected to the people around the world, make friends who have similar hobbies and likings, promoting your products, conveying awareness, searching for job, house, car etc., expressing your opinion towards anything. And the cons are; stalking people, badmouthing others, anyone can know about others if the account is not on private, spending more time in social media and internet means less time with family members or the person living with.

Usage of social networking has contributed to a new form of abusive communication, and academic research has highlighted a number of social-technological explanations for this behavior. These including the anonymity afforded by interpersonal communications,[75] factors that include boredom or attention seeking,[76] or the result of more polarized online debate.[77] The impact in this abuse has found impacts through the prevalence of online cyberbullying, and online trolling. There has also been a marked increase in political violence and abuse through social media platforms. For instance, one study by Ward and McLoughlin found that 2.57% of all messages sent to UK MPs on Twitter were found to contain abusive messages.[77]

I analyzed the period of time of how much I am engaged in SNS for four days and it was 4 hours in average in a day. Most of the time, I am in Instagram, face book and Netflix as an International student. I have to have a conversation with my parents once a day and other than that I just watch whatever is there in the news feed.

In this Pew Internet sample, 79% of American adults said they used the internet and nearly half of adults (47%), or 59% of internet users, say they use at least one of SNS. This is close to double the 26% of adults (34% of internet users) who used a SNS in 2008 [1]. Internet users of all ages are more likely to use a SNS today than they were in 2008. However, the increase in SNS use has been most pronounced among those who are over the age of 35. In 2008 only 18% of internet users 36 and older used a SNS, by 2010 48% of internet users over the age of 35 were using a SNS. This is about twice the growth experienced by internet users 18-35; 63% of whom used a SNS in 2008 compared with 80% in 2010. Among other things, this means the average age of adult-SNS users has shifted from 33 in 2008 to 38 in 2010. Over half of all adult SNS users are now over the age of 35.

As with the use of most social media, SNS users are disproportionately female (56%). Women also comprise the majority of email users (52% women), users of instant message (55%), bloggers (54%), and those who use a photo sharing service (58%).

It has become a habit to check my social media account frequently even though, I do not share much and I have asked some friends that how much time they spend on SNS and they are on SNS more than I do.
