Jessica Nigri probably the most recognized name in the cosplay industry. She started cosplaying in 2009 with “sexy pikachu”costume, which she wore to san diego comic-con international and went viral on the internet. After that in 2011 she promoted for Microsoft and GameStop to dressed up as the game’s character. She is an American-New Zealand cosplay enthusiast. Beside cosplayer she also served as an official spokesperson for several video games and comic book series, including Lollipop Chainsaw and Assassin’S Creed IV: Black Flag. She is also famous for voicing with over 4.1M follower in instagram.
Jessica has played a huge roll in changing the perception of cosplay and converting it to a more mainstream audience. In this Above picture we can see the character Pikachu from Pokémon series which is popular in young and adult audiences. In the series pikachu is a male character with superpower. Jessica Nigri portrait it as a female “sexy pikachu” character in her video.
She wanted to make all the character interesting by adding her work on it. She is interested to mentor and train the next generation to get into cosplay world. “I love the newer community coming in. They have fresh ideas a lot of people who have been in cosplay for a long time get jaded to. My heart is nestled here. I want to branch out, but I really do love the community.” She designed her own cosplay costume and wear them in convention that features cosplay. .In one of her interview she stated that “I have never met more die hard fans than cosplayers.” Pikachu first appear on the air in February 27, 1996. It has powerful electrical abilities to distort its enemy. By wearing this character costume Jessica shows the empowerment of women that they has the ability to stand their own. In this picture the background is red and the costume colour is yellow and black which has a good reflection of colour which makes her look more powerful. This is the not the only one character that she is famous for, she won an IGN contest to become the official cosplayer for the pulp video game Lollipop Chainsaw. In an interview Jessica said that she look at cosplay almost like a cruel mistress. Some time it slaps in the face because you are not good enough in your mind to play the roles but after hard work the reward is so much more than any pain.
